FWD in sport as a top athlete*in
Competitive athletes do not always find it easy to combine voluntary service with the time-intensive training periods and competition dates. For members of the national team (A-B-C squad) or promising candidates (D/C squad) as well as regular players of Bundesliga teams, there is therefore the possibility to perform a BFD top-class sport.
Voluntary service as a top athlete is possible under the following conditions:
- For Olympic sports, membership in the federal squads A to D/C or membership in a first division team (regular players)
- For non-Olympic sports that are sponsored by the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI): In accordance with the DOSB's funding concept for top-class sport, funding is based on the following classifications: Membership in the federal squads A to D/C, if the sport is classified in promotion level IIa or IIb, or membership in the federal squad A, if the sport is classified in promotion level I
- For non-Olympic sports that are not supported by the BMI: Case-by-case decision based on a proposal by the DOSB
