Seminars in the voluntary services

Volunteers in sport are welcome to join us at any time (on the 1st or 15th of each month) and can start their service. In addition to the work in the volunteer placement, participation in educational programs is an essential part of the voluntary service (FWD) in sport. A total of 25 seminar days are prescribed by law for a 12-month FWD. If more than 12 months are completed, the number of seminar days increases by at least one day per additional month of FWD.  

You will find the specific number of seminar days to be completed in your contract or in the current monthly newsletter (by e-mail). The full number of seminar days must be completed and submitted one month before the end of your service. 

Seminar attendance counts as working time and is compulsory. Vacation must be planned outside the seminar times. 

A mandatory component for the recognition of your voluntary service (FWD) in sport is also the implementation and documentation of your own FWD project.

ASC Carrier Seminars
During the ASC carrier seminars, the working time is at least six hours per day (or 8 learning units). Work is usually done in the mornings and afternoons, sometimes also in the evenings. During the free time there is the opportunity for creative or sports activities - sometimes under the guidance of ASC Göttingen's instructors and teamers or the volunteers themselves.

The volunteers actively participate in the content and implementation of the seminars (=> educational year). Each seminar is evaluated with the group members at the end of the week.

In addition to the work in the sites of operation, participation in educational opportunities is an essential part of voluntary services in sport (FWD). For all volunteers 15 seminar days are organized and financed by the ASC Göttingen. These are divided into an introductory, an intermediate and a final seminar (5 days each). During the introductory and intermediate seminars, the basic and advanced courses of a trainer or Trainer C training are often held. In addition to the introductory, intermediate and final seminar, one week of political education is an obligatory part of the FWD for BFD'ler. In the FSJ a total of 10 freely selectable seminar days must be planned.

Your freely selectable seminar days

Freely selectable seminar days are to be planned together with your place of work. The 5-10 free seminar days can best be used to complete the started (professional) license. The foundation stone for all licenses is usually laid with the first two carrier seminars (introductory and 1st intermediate seminar). Within this framework, a valid first aid certificate (not older than 2 years) is required at the time of application. A first aid course can be taken as a free seminar day.

Free seminar days must be planned according to the interests of the volunteer in accordance with the place of assignment. Seminar days are working days means that for seminars on weekends or in addition to the weekly working hours, a corresponding time balance must be agreed with the place of work. All seminars that are officially advertised by (external) educational institutions are possible here (for an overview see seminar offers) and are confirmed with a certificate of participation.    

To be recognized:  

Only whole seminar days within the scope of 6 learning units (LE) or at least 4.5 hours. A LE comprises 45 minutes.

calendar day before the course units: No more than one seminar day can be completed on one calendar day.  

A copy of the certificates of attendance of free seminar days not conducted by the sponsor must be sent to the ASC as soon as possible (Seminare@fwd-sport.de or by post).   

In case of uncertainties regarding the recognition of a planned free seminar day, we are available for consultation by telephone or e-mail.

The 15 days of seminars, which are run by the executing agency, are free of charge for the volunteers and the sites of operation. The Political Education seminar is also free of charge. The seminar days, which can be chosen freely, are to be planned jointly by the sites of operation and volunteers and financed by the sites of operation.

Travel costs to the sponsoring seminars:

Travel expenses will be reimbursed by ASC Göttingen in accordance with the Federal Travel Expenses Act. Information on the reimbursement of travel expenses can be found under Downloads. Costs can only be reimbursed in full if the conditions are met.

Freely selectable seminar days - are planned jointly by the volunteers and the EST:

Assignment location-association: Costs are borne by the association - in consultation with the EST

Assignment location-school: Costs are covered by ASC Göttingen - up to €70 per seminar day (min. 6 training units) including travel costs. For reimbursement of the seminar costs, the relevant form (to be found under Downloads) must be completed, signed and sent to the ASC together with the original certificate of participation.

Illness during regular working hours

1. If it is determined that you are unable to work, call the relevant place of work as soon as possible.
2. After the doctor's visit, send a message to krankmeldung@fwd-sport.de and the place of employment in CC stating the respective period of absence, which can be found on the doctor's printed eAU.
3. The sick time is still transferred by us to the payroll program and then confirmed by the health insurance companies.

Illness during the seminar period

If participation in a seminar is not possible for health reasons, an email must also be sent to seminare@fwd-sport.de with the period of absence in addition to the steps mentioned above.

After confirmation of the sick note by the health insurance company, the seminar days will be counted as "excused attendance" and credited to the seminar account. However, the missed learning units cannot be credited to the acquisition of the respective license, so we recommend that you contact the person responsible for the seminar if you wish to obtain a license and look for a replacement seminar.
