Great that you are interested in volunteering in sport!

How do I become a volunteer?

If you...

  • ... after school you do not know which education or profession you want to take up
  • ... are interested in sports and would like to look after children and young people
  • ... want to do something practical after school that you enjoy
  • ... you want to make good use of the waiting time for a training place or study place
  • ... want to gain new experiences and get to know your own abilities and limits

Here you will find all the necessary information to become a volunteer*r.

Under Information we show you which steps you have to take. You can see here which possibilities and formats there are (Formats & Offers), which legal things you have to consider and how exactly you can find a place of employment (map of places of employment, vacancies).

How do I become a volunteer?

Below you will find a step-by-step guide from us on how to proceed in order to complete a voluntary service in sport

Voluntary service in sport (FWD) is completed at an "assignment location". An assignment location can be a sports club, sports association, school, kindergarten or similar somewhere in Lower Saxony.

You have to look for this place first. You can find organizations that are already recognized and active in the FWD on our assignment location map. But you can also contact your local sports club or your old school, for example. Our information provides you with all the important key data that you can also give to organizations that are not yet recognized. You can find current vacancies in our job exchange.

If you're having trouble finding your way around, give us a call - we'll be happy to advise you!

Once you have found an organization that is basically interested in working with you as a volunteer, you must

fill out the volunteer registration form together.

You clarify whether the volunteer placement is already recognized by us. If not, an application for recognition must be completed.

You fill out the following points together in the volunteer registration form:

Type of service (information can be found under - Formats and offers)

Relevant information about you and your background

Period of service (6-18 months possible)

Seminar focus (information can be found under - Seminar offers)

Main focus of your daily work at the place of assignment

Once you have completed the form together, sign and stamp it (together with the application for recognition, if applicable) and send it by email to info@fwd-sport.de.

Click here for the volunteer registration form.

Once we have received the signed volunteer registration form, we will draw up the contract based on the data entered. As soon as the contract is ready, it will be sent to the assignment location by e-mail. They must then print it out three times and stamp and sign the original together with the volunteer (or legal guardian, if applicable). All three original copies will then be sent to ASC Göttingen von 1846 e.V. by post.

Please note: In the case of a Federal Voluntary Service (BFD), we have to send the signed contract to the Federal Office afterwards - therefore the volunteer registration form must be submitted to us at least 6 weeks before the start of the contract!

This step is not necessary for the Voluntary Social Year - but you should still send the documents as soon as possible.

Now everything is done and your voluntary service can begin!

We will send you current and important information about your voluntary service by e-mail.

So please check your mailbox regularly (including the spam folder - where emails sometimes get lost).

We offer all volunteers 25 days of training seminars. The 25 training days required by law are divided, for example, into an introductory seminar (5 days), a first intermediate seminar, a second intermediate seminar and a final seminar (5 days each). The introductory and intermediate seminars are often used for license training. However, we also offer non-licensed seminar groups. Depending on your field of interest and choice of seminar group, there are also 5-10 freely selectable seminar days, which you can organize individually.

We are your point of contact throughout the year! Especially if problems or challenges arise. We are also in continuous contact with you and those responsible at your placement location.
