Mission statement of the ASC Göttingen von 1846 e.V.

The ASC Göttingen von 1846 e.V. is a modern major sports club, which draws its strength from the interplay of tradition and perspective and is oriented towards its members. Influenced by cross-generational thinking and acting, education and care through sport is of particular importance, especially for children and young people. As a popular sports club, it is open to all social groups (inclusive) who feel committed to its values and goals. In order to be able to implement its sporting and cultural goals as well as the idea of sport and the environment, the association also has its own sports and meeting facilities. As a popular sports club, it makes it its task to promote competitive, top-class, leisure and health sports on an equal footing within the framework of given opportunities. The association does not pay athletes and closes itself to sports that contradict the idea of health promotion through sport.

Whoever enters the clubhouse of the ASC Göttingen von 1846 e.V. quickly recognizes the positive symbiosis of tradition and perspective. Next to the "Old Flag of the Göttingen Gymnastics Community" from 1849 hangs the logo of ASC 46, which has served as the club's calling card since the last major merger in 1980. At that time the gymnastics community of Göttingen and the SSC Göttingen came together to form a large association. Today, the ASC 46 is one of the largest clubs in Germany with 9,000 members and is prepared for the future with its variety and quality in its offerings and its modern structure of voluntary and full-time office. Sport and exercise continue to be at the heart of the wide range of activities offered, which is intended to appeal to all age groups from infants to senior citizens and at the same time to all sections of the population. The club's own sports facilities in particular reflect this cross-generational, broad-based sports orientation of the club. Education and care are lived out, because in addition to the children in our day-care centers, seniors find social contact in chair gymnastics, health sports and parlour games, which also make old age worth living. In the volunteer services, young people are introduced to volunteer work in sports for one year and trained as trainers or club managers.
